You have to go to South Beach once in your life. It’s the party and LGBT capital of Miami and is full of fun things to do whether it’s laying on the beach soaking up the sun, getting your dancing shoes on at one of South Beach’s clubs, or having a civilised lunch by the beach.
Although I didn’t stay in South Beach, I was immediately dazzled by the colour of the ocean. As we drove over the bridge the views of cruise ships, big houses and flashy super yachts charmed me.
We finally arrived at Soho Beach House, and spent a couple of hours basking in the sun (or burning as I was – make sure you wear your sun cream!) before heading for lunch at Cecconi’s, an up-market chain in London, Miami and Hollywood. I’ve always wanted to stop by Cecconi’s in London so I just had to check it out in Miami.
Most impressively it’s housed in a gorgeously designed courtyard of the hotel and private member’s club, with vines overhead and beautiful patterned floors.
I instantly loved the menu. Lots of seafood, sharing plates, pasta and pizza.
We decided we’d share lots of little plates so we could have a taste of everything. To start off we went for the beef tartare and the Burrata – both favourite dishes of mine. The beef tartare was light and came with a very sweet cracked open quail’s egg yolk. I do prefer my tartare spicier than was served, but it was perfect for lunch.
The Burrata was very colourfully served, with avocado, vine tomatoes and my favourite beetroot!
For main we had to share a pizza so went for the N’duja and Egg plant. Egg plant translates as Aubergine in Britain, which does sound like a weird combo on pizza but it adds to the smoky taste of the n’duja.
What I loved the most was the butter lettuce with goddess dressing and avocado. It was unreal, definitely going to be eating more of this at home! Miami isn’t known for it’s salads but it definitely should be!
We couldn’t possibly have managed dessert so we decided to head back to the beach and sun bathe away our food babies.
It’s definitely worth a visit, and you don’t have to be a member of Soho House to make a reservation. Plus it’s a stone’s throw from the white sands and turquoise Atlantic Ocean.
Lucy is one of my best friends and all round mega babe, so for more blog posts by her and some very pretty pictures head over to her:
