Tully Humphrey Interview

Tully Lou is fast becoming one of The Nutritionista’s favourite sportswear brands! So I decided to catch up with Tully Humphrey the founder of Tully Lou and discuss how the idea for Tully Lou came about, what makes it unique , her love of yoga and her advice for budding entrepreneurs and much more. Tully is an amazing lady with a great brand and I hope you enjoy what she has to say as much as I have :)

1. How did the idea for Tully Lou first come about?

I was in a yoga class one morning. I remember looking around the room at one point and noticing that everyone was in black clothing, black leggings, black shorts and black crops. I thought to myself WOW how depressing is the color black? It doesn’t make you feel happy, doesn’t inspire you, you want to look good and feel good whilst working out right? From that day I decided something needed to change. I wanted to inspire woman and make them feel good so they WANT to work out!

2. What makes Tully Lou unique?

TL is a little different to what’s on the market at the moment. TL is very on trend, very fashion forward, Bold and bright. I also teach yoga and am very active I have a pretty great idea of what styles feel good. I live and breathe health and wellness and I think it shows within the TULLY LOU brand!

3.Can you describe how your journey into health/fitness came about?

Growing up I was always very active living in the country with my family. My mum would always make sure we ate right and were never allowed to have sugary drinks or sugar loaded cereals! Which at the time my little sister and I hated, however now I am so grateful.

When I hit my early teens, I was diagnosed with Anorexia and basically had to finish high school in year 10 to recover at home under the watchful eye of my family.

It wasn’t until I was about 16yrs old I found Yoga. It really helped me tune into myself, my mind and my body and made me really wake up and realize what I was doing to myself and putting my body through. I learnt to accept my body and slowly myself. Yoga helped me focus on being healthy and putting the right foods back into my body.

4. Has your love of yoga and wellness helped to inspire the Tully Lou ranges?

Yes it has! I practice most days and teach yoga part time. Being on the mat and observing class when teaching allows me to watch how students move their bodies in and out of postures. It helps me get a better understanding of how I can design pieces that will flatter a women’s body to make them feel really good about themselves when practicing or being active!
