A MODERN WAY TO EAT BY ANNA JONES

A Modern Way To Eat

When I first heard of Anna Jones and her lovely new book ‘A Modern Way To Eat’ I was very intrigued to see what this book had to offer. I have always loved vegetarian dishes, I’m not a vegetarian by no mean feat but I love vegetables and I try and incorporate as many as I can in my cooking and diet in general. So I was looking forward to what this book could show me, and I wasn’t disappointed, when the cook book itself arrived on my desk I was struck by what a simple, elegant modern cookbook it was. The cookbook itself is ultra modern and sleek, the way its laid out is well thought through and the photography is simply stunning, I mean I dare anyone to flick through this book and not be completely overawed by the beautiful food.

A Modern Way To Eat
Anna Jones is clearly a very talented young cook and food writer. To give you a bit of background Anna she is a cook, food writer and food stylist (you would never of guessed right!) who worked with Jamie Oliver for many years. ‘A Modern Way To Eat’ is her first cookbook and is described as “a totally modern take on vegetarian eating” what I love so much about this book is the delicious healthy take on vegetarian eating, Anna is very clear that her approach to food is healthy food meets delicious, which for me is exactly what I want, my food to be healthy and nutritious but in no way lacking in taste, texture and flavour. So that in mind this book is fast becoming my favourite vegetarian cookbook.

So apart from flicking through the pages and admiring the beautiful pictures with my stomach rumbling I decided to try a few of the recipes and let you know how I got on. So this weekend I did exactly that, I was cooking a light lunch for a group of people and needed a few salads to spice up the table which lead me too the ‘Satisfying Salads’ section of the book, I chose two dishes (it was not an easy decision trust me) I went for the warm salad of roasted kale coconut and tomatoes and the figs with sticky date dressing. Both of the recipes were easy to follow and the results were fantastic they both went down a storm, the dressings for both were exquisite! I have never seen plates cleared so quickly I wish I made more. For me the warm kale, tomato and coconut salad was the standout dish, I loved the flavour combination and the texture of the crunchy kale, roasted coconut and warm roasted tomatoes…..dreamy trust me! So there you have it, that’s my experience of ‘A Modern Way To Eat’ by Anna Jones, I made two fantastic salads which were bursting with flavour, I will definitely be using Anna’s cookbook in the future, I love her approach to vegetarian eating and not to mention her sleek modern cookbook with beautiful pictures. What a wonderful book, Anna thank you for introducing me into your world of vegetarian eating, I loved it!
