Today was the day!! The day The Nutritionista went to my first Barrecore class, for those of you who know me you will know how much I have been looking forward to going to these classes and boy was it worth it! As an avid gym goer I am always researching new exercise classes which are springing up in London, and in this section of my blog I am to share my experiences of trying these new classes with you.
So I have been a bit ballet crazy recently, so when I heard of Barrecore I just had to try it, using a mixture of ballet and pilates based exercises that promises to lengthen and tone your muscles leading to a strong lean body- you can see the appeal. There are two locations one in Chelsea (Kings road) and one in Mayfair (Cavendish square) I chose to go to the Mayfair class as this was the easiest for me to get to, not far from my house and walking distance from my work. There are a variety of different types of classes and at all times throughout the day, so pretty convenient for fitting around work.
So now onto the really important bit the class……I am not exaggerating when I say that this was probably the best workout I have had in a very long time, dare I say it the best exercise class I have ever been to, which is a big statement I know. The studio itself was bright and spacious, and the staff very welcoming the girl who signed me in gave me a little tour then helped me to set up my workout area which was so helpful! The instructor was extremely enthusiastic and clearly very talented, all the moves were clearly demonstrated and easy to follow. I mean when I say easy to follow they still forced me to push my body much further than I ever normally would, by the end there was a lot of muscle shaking and red faces going on! Another plus was that the instructor was great at giving each person in the class individual attention and correcting everyones shapes/form, so you really felt like you were getting one on one attention even though you were in a group.
I feel like I am really singing Barrecores praises but by the way my body feels right now I feel like it deserves it, there are muscles hurting which I don’t think I have ever used before, every part of my body feels well and truly worked out. I am a bit worried for how I am going to feel and if I am going to be able to walk tomorrow, I am not complaining though in fact I would say I am a bit addicted! There is nothing more satisfying than a post workout ache then you know you have really pushed yourself. I feel like this is the kind of workout that could really transform you’re body and change you’re approach to exercise.
The one downside is the price which at £30 for a single class is quite steep, however there is a barrecore express class at £18 which is more achievable. Yet I do realise for many young working girls like myself this price is a bit much for regular classes. However when you put this into perspective you are really getting a lot for your money, the instructors are inspiring, the classes are without a doubt the best classes I have been too. How many times have you been to a class at your local gym and come out feeling dissatisfied with you’re workout? I know I have, and at barrecore you certainly wont be getting that feeling, as I walked home in the sunshine this morning I had that smug sense of pride you get when you only get when you have just finished a unbelievable workout.
So in summary, I am addicted and want to try every class available and see how it transforms my body (if my budget allows) I would recommend barrecore to anyone who wants a workout unlike any other they have experienced, and as for you Barrecore I will see you Tuesday……see I told you, addicted!
Love the nutritionista x
