The other week I was given the most amazing opportunity I had to literally pinch myself. Sweaty Betty asked me to work with them in an event for the launch of their new store in Marylebone. When Sweaty Betty first approached me to work with to launch the new store I of course jumped at the chance. I have been wearing Sweaty Betty long before the world of The Nutritionista was born, so to have them approach me to work with them made me feel so proud of how far my little blog has come in a fairly short space of time. It seems like only yesterday I started up The Nutritionista and now I am getting the most amazing opportunities and working with such great brands I am truly grateful.
So when Sweaty Betty and I started brainstorming about the kind of event we would like to host we decided upon an evening focused around the theme balance. Starting off with a Pilates class taken by the fantastic Dawne founder of BePilates, (reviewed here) followed by a talk on living a balanced healthy lifestyle by myself. Before I talk about the event itself I just have to briefly touch upon BePilates itself- I have fallen in love with BePilates and if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you will see that I am often found hanging upside down on the amazing equipment they have there.
So the event itself we decided to keep fairly small, to give it a more ‘exclusive’ feel and so the pilates class and talk could feel more intimate. From what I have gathered from the feedback we managed to achieve just this. So the day arrived, I had prepared my talk, well when I say prepared I had written a few bullet points down. As I decided that the best talks I have been too are ones that are natural, so natural was the vibe I was going for. I was pretty nervous on the day actually, nervous but excited! The evening commenced at 6:45pm and started with the lovely Dawne teaching a 40 minute mat pilates session. The pilates itself was great but it was Dawne who was the star of the show, I spent most of the time laughing at her jokes and odd names for pilates moves. There were hot potatos being thrown and a move called hello boys, which we had to do facing away from the shop window…….you get the picture ha! It was an entertaining class, not to say it wasn’t challenging especially those hot potato moves I definitely felt them in my legs the next day.
Once the pilates class came to an end, we all moved the mats around what can only be described as a round swinging chair hanging off the ceiling. You can see it in the pictures as I feel like that description does the chair no favours. I became pretty attached to the chair and its fluffy cushions by the end of the evening. Look how happy I am in the pictures…..whats not to love about a swinging chair right. Anyway back to the event (sorry got distracted by the chair). Next up was my talk, everyone got themselves comfortable around the chair and were served a cup of Rare Tea in the Sri Lankan lemongrass flavour, Rare Tea are a fantastic independent tea company in London introduced to us by Dawne who is a big fan. I love tea in all shapes and forms and this tea is delicious so I really recommend trying it out.

Once the tea had been served and everyone was comfortable, it was talk time. I got myself comfortable and began my talk on a healthy balanced lifestyle. So for anyone who knows me well you will know I like to talk, a lot. And often very quickly and can go off on tangents about things especially food related. I mean I can talk for hours about food. Seriously. That in mind I LOVED doing the talk, its great to be able to talk about an area you are passionate about to an amazing group of ladies all with the same interest. I mean I think I most definitely went off on a few tangents about dark chocolate, treats, breakfast and even alcohol- yes I know we covered a lot ha. I really hope that the women enjoyed what I had to say, and I was so grateful for everyone coming along to the event. I hope that they were all able to take something useful away from the evening.
I think the main point I was trying to get across in the talk was that to be healthy you need to find what works for you. There is no one rule for everyone when it comes to leading a healthy balanced lifestyle you need to listen to your body and find what works for you. Everyone is individual, everyones body is different so what works for one person may not work for another.
As the evening was about balance and I talked about the importance of treating yourself every now and then I decided to carry on this trend to the goodie bags. Each attendee got one and it was crammed full of Sweaty Betty goodies and a bar of Doisy and Dam chocolate and a Pip & Nut butter sachet. Chocolate and nut butter…..what a great goodie bag if I do say so myself. Ohh and of course the Sweaty Betty goodies too, but in edible terms I think the contents were pretty darn great.
So the real reason behind this event was to help launch the fabulous new Sweaty Betty boutique in Marylebone, which may I add is quite becoming a little healthy hub what with Roots & Bulbs, the natural kitchen, BePilates and now Sweaty Betty. Seems like Marylebone covers your every need when it comes too health and fitness. Green juices, healthy food, fashionable activewear and an amazing pilates studio. The dream. I seriously love Sweaty Betty’s new boutique its light, well laid out and in the best location right on the high street. Not to mention its one of the few boutiques stocking the Richard Nicoll collection, which I have seen in the flesh and trust me its just beautiful, it pretty much defines ‘sportsluxe’. So if your around Marylebone and fancy topping up your workout wadrobe pop into the new Sweaty Betty boutique for some serious workout wardrobe inspiration.
Here are two lovely blog posts from some of those who attended the event;
