Central School Of Ballet- Adult Classes

Central School of Ballet

Central School of Ballet

I have mentioned before on The Nutritionista that I wanted to get back into ballet, my whole childhood up until I was 15 I went to ballet classes twice a week, and I have decided that now is the time to get back into it. So today was the day to do it, I have been researching the best adult ballet classes for a while now and there have been a couple which have grabbed my attention. So I have decided to try a few different ones and see which ones I like best. I will be sharing my experiences with you on here, helping anyone who also wants to get back into ballet choose where to go.

So after a bit of research I decided to go to a morning class at the Central School of Ballet, the class was described as a beginner class for those who had either done ballet as a child and wanted to get back into it or had never done ballet before and wanted to try it which suited me perfectly. When I had got into the building and paid for my class (which was £8 for an hour and a half) I went to the changing rooms, got ready then went down to the class, I had purchased some ballet shoes at Bloch the week- I wore my black nike gym leggings and a black T-shirt. As I walked down towards the studio I could hear pianos being played and when I peeked into some of the other studios I saw elegant women dancing around gracefully…..all very surreal.

The class itself was very busy, yet there was still enough room for everyone to have space on the bar, the instructor was extremely enthusiastic and made everyone feel comfortable. He spaced anyone new to the class (me included) behind a more experienced dancer so we could follow their moves. The moves themselves were fairly easy to pick up once you got the hang of it and I remembered a few positions which helped make it easier. The class had a variety of levels of dancers even though it was aimed at beginners, a range of complete beginners and then some more advanced dancers. Yet the moves were easy to follow and well taught, the instructor came around correcting peoples positions etc which was helpful. Even though it lasted for an hour and a half it went very quickly, and by the end I felt taller, more elegant and well and my muscles felt worked and elongated which is what the aim was so all in all a success.

I will definitely be returning here, mainly because the price is a lot cheaper than other ballet classes available in London, and the class was well taught and well structured. I could see myself picking things up quite easily and pushing myself a lot in this class…..also if you want the full ballerina experience complete with pianos, pointe shoes pilled up in the changing rooms, tutus hung up on pegs in the corridors and extremely tall elegant dancers swanning around…..then the Central School of Ballet is the one for you.

Love the nutritionista x
