The Nutritionista Goes Underwater Spinning with aquAllure

aquAllure review

aquAllureSo the other week The Nutritionista was invited to try out aquAllure London’s first Aqua-Cycling class know as ‘Poolbiking’. Underwater cycling class I hear you say? Yes you heard correctly! Obviously I was very intrigued as to what the poolbiking class would be like, I am a pretty consistent spinning class attendee so this class appealed to me a lot, I mean who doesn’t want to try spinning underwater?

Before my class I caught up with the lovely and very inspiring Dorine the founder of aquAllure who gave me a bit of background as to where Aqua-Cycling came from. The concept is already huge in France and Italy where it originated  and its even now available in New York so it was only a matter of time before Aqua-Cycling came and made a splash (sorry I couldn’t resist the pun) on London’s fitness scene. And I can see why its proving to be so popular, the class itself was a 45 minute session which took place at Dolphin Square’s Health & Fitness Club in Pimlico, apparently up too 800 calories can be burned per session….sounds good right?

So what are some of the other benefits of Aqua Cycling? Well according to Dorine combining the principles of stationary cycling with the healthy soothing powers of water exercising in water has the added advantage of no muscle soreness the following day. I didn’t believe this whilst I was doing my class as my legs worked so hard I was sure I would be aching the next day, but the next morning I woke up and amazingly my legs were ache free. Don’t let this fool you into thinking that the class was easy, because believe me it wasn’t I worked so hard and really felt my whole body working. The added resistance of the water makes everything that bit harder.

So some more reasons why aquAllure is a great addition to the London fitness scene- the class is suitable for pregnant women, people living with heart disease, high level athletes and those recovering from injuries. Classes are also great for those looking to burn fat, reduce cellulite, tone up and lose weight……now if that isn’t enough to persuade you I don’t know what is!

Thanks Dorine and the team for making my aquAllure experience such a great one, The Nutritionista really recommends you try out this class, if your looking to shake your workout up a bit, or even if your just bored with the same old routine and looking for something new then aquAllure is the one for you x
