Steph is The Nutritionistas favourite kind of model, beautiful, healthy and inspiring and most of all we want her to be our best friend. She has managed this all through her clever use of social media…..something tells us that she has a lot of brains behind the beauty. So as you can tell, The Nutritionista is a big fan, so we decided to do a Q&A with Steph about her life, her modelling career, exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle. I hope you enjoy what she has to say x
1. Can you tell us how you first became a model?
Modelling is something i knew i always wanted to get into, in year 12 i met a photographer named Liz and did a test shoot with her, she then sent my pictures into Chadwick, telling me that i had to be in the industry… i didn’t complain. I then got an interview with chaddys and after that was signed :)
2. What’s the highlight of your modelling career so far?
Most definitely working internationally. I’ve been signed in the states and its been amazing living over here and experiencing working in a different country and market.
3. What’s a typical day in the life of Steph Claire Smith?
If I’m not working, or have castings on, then I’m out for brunch with a friend or taking my dogs for a walk.
4. What’s your favourite meal? Do you have any cooking tips?
- My favourite naughty meal is – gnocchi
- My favourite healthy meal is – salmon with quinoa and veggies
- My favourite treat… fresh popped popcorn and chocolate :)
My cooking tip is to go wild and don’t follow recipes… people always ask me for recipes but really i just grab a whole lot of my favourite ingredients and put them together… you cant go wrong if everything your using is something you like. ;)
5. Do you have an exercise routine, if so can you explain it to us?
Its forever changing. I have a PT (Lachlan Clarke) who gives me a lot of movements that always look simple but end up being extremely difficult and helpful. i go for lots of walks, with my dogs, i try to do that everyday. Anyway, my answer is no… no specific routine… i just try and do something active everyday.
6. How important is leading a healthy lifestyle to you?
Extremely… now anyway. I use to eat so much junk, and now that I’m eating so much healthier, i can feel the benefits in my energy levels, my immune system and not to mention feeling more confident in my body. I still treat myself now and then and i do think it important for everyone to balance it out.
7. What is your favourite restaurant?
Im a ‘bruncher’ so my favourite would have to be ‘The Lillydale General’ in Lillydale… such yummy and healthy breakfast and lunch menu.
8. Is there anyone who inspires you?
Many people inspire me, i could say a list of celebrities … but really, anyone that is loving life and always striving to complete goals, is an inspiration to me.
9. Do you have any advice for young women who want to lead a healthy lifestyle?
The biggest mistake girls make when wanting to lose weight or to be healthier is that they think eating less is the answer, and being hungry… when in actual fact that can lead girls bouncing back a lot worse when they do decide to eat again. Advice for eating… don’t try and cut things out of your diet, like meat or dairy just because you think its healthier not to have it… its all about balance. Just try and make sure the majority of your food that your eating is fresh and not packaged. Exercise wise, just try and be active everyday, aim to sweat, work out what sort of exercise suits you.
